Aya Scarf ENGLISH – a feminine scarf in a light and simple slip stitch pattern
Sizes: Triangular scarf: 1 strand (2 strands). Rectangular scarf: 1 strand (2 strands).
Measurements: Triangular scarf: Depth (from tip to upper edge): 31 cm / 12¼”. Width along upper edge: approx. 63.5 cm / 25”.
Rectangular scarf: Length from tip to tip: 80 cm / 31½”. Width: 12.5 cm / 5”.
Size guide: Aya Scarf is worked in either 1 or 2 strands of silk mohair – the gauge is the same – but it can also be knitted in other fine yarn qualities. Please note that the finished measurements may vary from those stated in the pattern. The pattern includes instructions for both a triangular and a rectangular scarf – both versions can be worn around the neck or in the hair.
The scarves can be worked larger/longer than indicated, for example as a shawl or for wrapping several times around the neck. Keep in mind that yarn consumption will increase accordingly.
Gauge: 18 sts x 35 rows in slip stitch pattern on 4.5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4”.
Suggested yarn:
Triangular scarf: Approx. 10 (20) g Lace from Lang Yarns (25 g = 310 m) or approx. 15 (30) g Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive, Knitamore Hand-dyed Silk Mohair (50 g = 420 m), or a similar fine silk mohair quality.
Rectangular scarf: Approx. 8 (15) g Lace from Lang Yarns (25 g = 310 m) or approx. 10-15 (20-25) g Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive, Knitamore Hand-dyed Silk Mohair (50 g = 420 m), or a similar fine silk mohair quality.
Recommended needles: 4.5 mm circular needle (60 or 80 cm). Straight needles may also be used. Optional: a double-pointed needle in the same size for the i-cord bind-off.
Difficulty: Experienced beginner – intermediate.
