This pattern is in English.

Sille Socks are knitted socks featuring a cable pattern that combines slipped stitch knitting and traditional cable knitting. The socks are worked from the cuff down toward the toe, and the heel is shaped using short rows. The toe is shaped with decreases on each side and is finished with grafting using the Kitchener stitch (step-by-step guide at the end of the pattern).

Description

Sille Socks – Cozy knitted socks with a beautiful cable pattern

Sizes: 1  (2)

Measurements:

Circumference of the sock around the mid-foot: approx. 19.5-20 (23-23.5) cm. Sock length: adjustable to desired length.

Size guide: The pattern includes two sizes, which result in a difference of approx. 3.5-4 cm in foot circumference. Please note that the circumference is based on the front being worked in cable pattern and the back in stockinette stitch. It is recommended to knit the socks with a negative ease of about 1-2 cm if you want them to fit snugly on the foot during wear. Keep en mind that they will stretch in width with use. Therefore, the socks may initially appear small when you start knitting, but rest assured that they will stretch and grow with wear.

The length can be adjusted, so you should not choose the size based on foot length, but rather foot circumference and desired fit. If you wear a size 41 but have slim calves and feet, you can knit the smaller size and simply extend the foot length. On the other hand, if you wear a smaller size but have wider calves and feet, you can go up a size and simply shorten the foot. Measure the circumference of your calf and foot and consider which size will suit you best before you start knitting.

Gauge: 22 stitches x 35 rows in stockinette stitch on 3.0 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

Suggested yarn: Approx. 40 (50) g Einband from Istex (50 g = 250 m) held together with approx. 30 (35-40) g silk mohair, e.g. Silkhair from Lana Grossa (25 g = 210 m) or approx. 100 (100-125) g Viking Alpaca Storm (50 g = 133 m) (held single) or 100 (100-125) g handyed sock-merino from Knitamore (100 g = 266 m) or Alpaca Soxx 6-ply by Lang Yarns (150 g = 390 m) or Alpakka Forte by Dale Garn (50 g = 133 m).

Suggested needles: Double-pointed needles (DPNs) 2.5 mm and 3.0 mm (15 or 20 cm) or circular needles 2.5 mm and 3.0 mm for magic loop technique. The magic loop technique can be used for the Italian cast-on in the ribbing, requiring a circular needle, after which you can switch to DPNs.

Difficulty: Experienced beginner – intermediate.
